This year, as part of our Advent and Christmas celebration, Bangsar Lutheran Church will provide school uniforms and school shoes to each of the 50 children of Rumah Hope.
This is how we are doing it:
- We have set up a Christmas tree in the church with “tags” in the shape of boys and girls on the tree. Each tag represents one boy or girl in the home – with the child’s name and age listed. Each tag also represents a “pledge” of RM100, which is the budget required for the uniforms and shoes.
- All church members are encouraged to take at least one tag and give your RM100 contribution to Sarah, Wan Ching or Hannah. We will then go and purchase the requisite amount of uniforms and shoes on your behalf (with the sizes provided by the team at Rumah Hope). If you can afford more, please take more tags. Please feel free to combine efforts with someone you know so that you can share out the costs.
- You will also be given a “card” for your “sponsored child” – please feel free to write your Christmas message to the child. You can also decorate the card as you wish.
- We will all then go with our presents and cards to Rumah Hope on 8 December 2012, where we will spend some time with the kids. We are planning to have some games, light refreshments and a time of giving out presents.
If you would like more information about this, please feel free to contact Sarah, Wan Ching or Hannah in church. We hope that you will continually pray for the children of Rumah Hope as well as consider your participation in this.
