OUR COLUMNISTS
Rama Ramanathan
Rama came to BLC with his wife, Joyce, in 2008. After working in industry for over 3 decades, he retired in 2014 as a senior quality executive. Since then, he’s focused on researching, writing, and catalysing social reforms. He’s passionate about representative democracy, enforced disappearances and deaths in custody. He’s the spokesperson for CAGED, Citizens Against Enforced Disappearances.
Lee Soo Choo
Soo Choo is a pilgrim on the way, learning to ‘walk with two feet of love’, striving to be at the place where her deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet. Currently a newbie spiritual companion, sky-watcher and moment-maker, finding her way home.
Meera Mahadevan
Meera is a nomad at heart and a curious learner, always on the go, exploring and discovering. Travels and ministry have led her to live and work in Europe, East Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia. Since early childhood, she’s sought always to respond to the movement of God’s Spirit in the world. Her journey has taken her from the corporate world to the mission frontier.
Vanessa Ting
Vanessa is, variously, from Sarawak, a pharmacist, and a lit major. She, also variously, needs to rein in a book-buying habit, likes looking for small things that grow, handles an Instagram account for a stray cat (@mrtmayau), and juggles vegetarianism with a fondness for pork belly. She reads more than she writes, and in this season, finds herself closest to God as she embarks on a nightly prayer routine with a toddler.
Mei Li
Mei Li has been an educator, a copywriter, a brand manager, a caterpillar caregiver and food service worker – although not in that order. When she is not unwinding with watercolours or cooking experiments, you can find her speedwatching Netflix (if it’s not running at 1.5x, you are wasting precious time). A bit of a nyctophiliac, she treasures the quiet renewing comfort of the night, whether through Compline or a post-dinner stroll in the neighbourhood, catcalling slightly irritated local felines.
Calvin Woo
Calvin is from Muar, Johor and takes his love for spicy food seriously. Whenever he has the chance, he would spend time in nature to admire our Lord’s masterpiece, and to soak in His presence. He enjoys time reflecting on various aspects of life, usually accompanied by a pot of Oolong and his favourite playlist.
Jern-Yi
Jern is a home-based piano educator in KL. She is currently on a faith and music deconstruction/reconstruction journey, and is always busy learning, re-learning and unlearning. She likes black cats, lyrical prose, and fermentation. She is never without a food craving and can often be found with a book in hand or binge-watching Netflix. Her favourite musicians are Jacob Collier and Joshua Long, the latter to whom she is married.

Davin
Have you ever wondered if God has a sense of humor? The answer is yes. Remind Davin to story you on the details when you meet him. Despite his allergies, Davin is thankful to God that it is safe for him to enjoy coffee and wine. One helps him accept the things that he cannot change. The other helps him change the things that he can change. When he’s not minding his Ps and Qs, he’s probably pondering on something existential. Other times, he’s deciding when to seize the moment/day/opportunity~
Sinner's Pen
From the quiet corners, where anonymity provides solace and sanctuary, I’m drawn to share my musings. Mine are the musings of a soul on a quest for truth and spiritual awakening. You may call me “Seeker,” for that is what I am—an individual yearning to explore the depths of faith and spirituality while shrouded in the comforting cloak of anonymity.
As a member of a cherished and cohesive church community, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of faith. But like a moth drawn to a flame, my curiosity extends beyond the familiar confines of my religious habitat. Through the power of introspection and storytelling, I aim to embrace the diversity of perspectives that exist in the realm of spirituality.
I hope my posts will serve as an oasis for all those eager to uncover the light that resides in the shadows of faith.
