For his first sermon (back) with Bangsar Lutheran Church, Rev. Dr. Sivin Kit preached from John 1:1-18 on the theme “Renewed Beginnings.”
It was still the Christmas season, according to the liturgical calendar. Sivin traced the story of how God came to dwell among people through Jesus Christ; the Christmas story. Drawing from contemporary examples, he outlined how today’s circumstances and happenings were similar to the environment in which Jesus was born. Despite that, God continued ahead with His plan to “tabernacle” with humanity.
Sivin eventually led us to consider the question, “Why are you still a Christian?”
His answer was essentially:
So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
