Today is Pentacost Sunday, where we celebrate two things: the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the establishment of the Church. The Holy Spirit came, not just with spiritual gifts and anointing, but also to bring the Church into being.
Sharing from today’s readings, Pastor Augustin shared with us how the Holy Spirit did this by being the Spirit of Truth, revealing to us the reality of God through Jesus Christ. When we recognize this at the beginning, we embark on a lifelong journey as a Church family towards Christ, ever conforming into His likeness.
The Holy Spirit also intercedes on our behalf – He prays through us and for us. He thus calls us together as the Church to pray and intercede for the world around us.
The Holy Spirit therefore enables and empowers us to do the work of the Church. He empowers us even in the work that we do from day to day, if we remain connected and continuously filled with the Holy Spirit. Without Him, we end up being burnt out when we do things in our own strength.

SPIRIT SONG – John Wimber
O let the Son of God enfold you
With His Spirit and His love
Let Him fill your heart and satisfy your soul
O let Him have the things that hold you
And His Spirit like a dove
Will descend upon your life and make you wholeJesus, O Jesus
Come and fill Your lambs
Jesus, O Jesus
Come and fill Your lambsO come and sing this song with gladness
As your hearts are filled with joy
Lift your hands in sweet surrender to His name
O give Him all your tears and sadness
Give Him all your years of pain
And you’ll enter into life in Jesus’ nameJesus, O Jesus
Come and fill Your lambs
Jesus, O Jesus
Come and fill Your lambs
