With today’s celebration of Doom/Christ the King Sunday, we begin the liturgical calendar anew and enter into the season of Advent, a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the coming of Jesus. For Christians, the season of Advent anticipates the coming of Christ from two different perspectives: to share in the ancient longing for the coming of the Messiah, and to be alert for his Second Coming.
The theme of readings and teachings during Advent is often to prepare for the Second Coming while commemorating the First Coming of Christ at Christmas. With the view of directing the thoughts of Christians to the first coming of Jesus Christ as Savior and to his second coming as judge, special readings are prescribed for each of the four Sundays in Advent.
As we journey towards Christmas, we would like to invite you to join us on the various activities we have lined up this Advent and Christmas season and focus our thoughts collectively on the theme, “Arise, Shine, For Your Light Has Come!“
May you and your loved ones be especially blessed this Advent and Christmastime.
All events are open events – please invite your loved ones and friends to join us this season. Kindly note that some of the services occur outside of our regular 10am service times (namely: 7 Dec, 21 Dec, 25 Dec, and 31 Dec).

I guess there are many ways of ending the old year, and rolling out a new one. We could spend it with friends, with family, with loved ones. We could spend it with a bunch of strangers at some event or venue. All of which are fine, and fun as well.
I have always thought of the crossover between one year and the next as a beautiful time – one that brings an end to one era, and opens up with hope, more than anything else, a new page. Perhaps the most appropriate place to do that would be at the feet of the Lord. Perhaps the most appropriate company to do that with would be our brothers and sisters in Christ, at the table of our Lord Jesus Christ. Pilgrims we are and it’s a good place to reflect, consider, let go, heal, ponder, reassure and move on with the Lord of all hope into a new year.
So, I would like to invite you tonight to a time of reflection, prayer, and hope at the Table of our Lord at 11 pm. Holy Communion will be celebrated. So come on over to Bangsar Lutheran Church for our watchnight Service with Holy Communion, tonight at 11pm.
