Yesterday was a pretty full day for us at BLC!
Pastor Augustin‘s sermon began with what’s probably the best lead up to introducing Randy Travis and his song, Three Wooden Crosses: How Pastor Augustin first started courting the woman who would eventually become his wife, Debbie!
Pastor Augustin’s then preached from this week’s lectionary readings and asked us, “What’s your legacy?” emphasizing the lyric from Three Wooden Crosses, “It’s not what you take when you leave this world behind you. It’s what you leave behind when you go.”
This week also saw us bidding farewell to May Jean, our Council Secretary and Community Catalyst, who is departing to pursue a job opportunity overseas. We prayed a blessing over her as we sent her off into what God has in store for her.
After service, we had the third installment of our Church Council series of studies, which are designed to explore each portfolio and discuss how it aligns back to life at BLC. This week, we explored the theological foundations behind the Worship Ministry. The study was also designed to help our worship enablers to better understand why we do what we do when it came to our worship services. (We will be posting up a summary of the study on Worship shortly, but you can read the summaries for our first two studies here: Being Lutheran and Exploring Church).
Looking forward to next Sunday!
